The Brief
Haven Thorpe Park is a popular holiday resort on the North Lincolnshire Coast.
The site operates multiple foodservice establishments across the park for guests.
To protect the drainage from Fats, Oils, and Grease (FOG) the property required grease management systems.

The Solution
Following a survey of all kitchens and grease contamination points, Aqua Mundus supplied and installed Big Dipper grease recovery units (GRUs) to protect the drainage from Fat, Oil and Grease and meet local Water Company requirements.
In total, 5 Big Dipper units were installed to cover key areas and prevent FOGs entering the drain line.
The Big Dipper is a self-emptying grease trap which is installed directly to connect to the grease discharging device (such as a sink) where it receives and separates the grease and oil and allows grease-free water to pass on into the drainage system.
Each Big Dipper unit was sized based upon the discharge flow from the connecting device to ensure the correct flow rate. The units were also to be installed on hygiene stands to allow for ease of cleaning and maintain the highest hygiene standards.
The units are also covered by a 3-year manufacturer backed warranty to provide a full support package to the kitchens.
With the new grease management equipment installed the site is protecting the drainage from Fat, Oil and Grease accumulations and also the connecting environment.
Edward Palin (Aqua Mundus) Commented:
“It was important for the client to meet Water Company compliance and protect the local environment – we were please to help the resort achieve this with the Big Dipper solution”
